Asthma

Asthma is characterized by wheezing and spasm of the bronchioles in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. Clinically, we have correlated muscle spasms and subluxations across the shoulder blades with various lung conditions, including asthma. When there is irritation, or pinching of the nerves that supply the lungs (which exit in the upper thoracic region), the lungs do not receive its signal as efficiently. Hence, they do not function to full capacity. If you have limited oxygen supply to the body you may have associated symptoms such as poor sleeping habits (or insomnia), anxiety, depression, attention deficits, and muscle spasm. Many chiropractors have had success in treating children for asthma, although it should be noted that the best results are seen in children who start chiropractic treatment before 10 years of age.
