Common Conditions

Arthritis

Arthritis involves pain and stiffness of the joints in one, or many areas of the body. People of all ages can experience arthritic changes and can find relief with chiropractic care. The combination of adjustments, acupressure, MFR, and mobilization techniques, can help increase joint mobility and lower the amount of pain and swelling in and around the joints.
In addition, we carry nothing but the highest quality vitamins and herbal analgesics on the market, which can help combat the symptoms of arthritis and prevent flare ups. Standard Processes products can only be purchased by doctors and have shown tremendous benefit in those suffering from arthritis.

Asthma

Asthma is characterized by wheezing and spasm of the bronchioles in the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. Clinically, we have correlated muscle spasms and subluxations across the shoulder blades with various lung conditions, including asthma. When there is irritation, or pinching of the nerves that supply the lungs (which exit in the upper thoracic region), the lungs do not receive its signal as efficiently. Hence, they do not function to full capacity. If you have limited oxygen supply to the body you may have associated symptoms such as poor sleeping habits (or insomnia), anxiety, depression, attention deficits, and muscle spasm. Many chiropractors have had success in treating children for asthma, although it should be noted that the best results are seen in children who start chiropractic treatment before 10 years of age.

Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder (ADD/ADHD)

ADD/ADHD is one of the most common diagnoses amongst our school children. Thousands of prescriptions each day are written for drugs such as Ritalin, Adderall, Concerta, and Strattera, but did you know that kids who take such drugs experience irritability, insomnia, nausea and over longer periods shorter stature, depression, and psychotic illnesses? In addition, children who take medication from a young age without cognitive behavioral therapy do not learn to control their impulsivity and can self-medicate later in life with dangerous and toxic substances. Research suggests that children with ADD/ADHD may have undiagnosed food allergies and nutritional imbalances. They may also suffer from subluxations in the upper cervical spine. Our pediatric patients often report having a greater focus and higher grades after receiving regular chiropractic care to correct these subluxations.

Childhood Illnesses

Chiropractic can help such conditions as colic, unexplained crying, poor appetite, breathing problems, and reflux. It can also assist in childhood problems such as ADD/ADHD, asthma, allergies, ear infections, diarrhea, scoliosis and constipation. At Clearly Aligned we are trained to look for subluxations on the pediatric spine that may develop into more serious problems down the road. If your child is experiencing any of the above problems, come in for a spinal evaluation. By doing so, you are paving the way for a healthy adult.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a poorly understood disorder characterized by extreme fatigue and gnawing, burning, constant pain in the muscles, tendons, and joints. Other symptoms include insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, depression, and/or anxiety. Although there is no medical cure for fibromyalgia, we have many patients who have found that our holistic approach to health and chiropractic treatment helps decrease the symptoms and pain associated with fibromyalgia. Therefore, freeing the body of subluxation (interference with the nervous system) so that the body’s inherent healing mechanisms can take over, may provide some analgesic side effects. We also examine nutritional considerations with these patients to ensure that the patient’s body is getting what he/she needs to improve.

Upper Extremity

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

When the wrist area or “carpal tunnel” becomes inflamed, it can cause burning pain, numbness, or weakness in the hands and fingers. Oftentimes pinched nerves in the wrist, elbow, shoulder, and even neck can mimic carpal tunnel syndrome and cause similar symptoms. Unfortunately, many patients opt for surgery before exploring conservative care, and ultimately their pain, or discomfort returns. Chiropractic treatment removes the pinching on the nerves, so that hand problems can be eliminated.

Elbow Conditions

Pain in the elbow can truly start to hinder your performance in sports, or at work due to the numerous tendinous connections in that area, as well as in the wrist which can also be affected. Lateral and Medial Epicondylitis are repetitive overuse injuries that are common in golfers and tennis players and respond very well to conservative chiropractic treatment methods. Cryotherapy, Myofascial Release, and Extremity adjustments all help to release adhesions, inflammation, and reduce tension in the area to facilitate healing.

Shoulder Injuries (Rotator Cuff Impingement Syndrome)

Many patients have suffered from sprains and strains of the shoulder complex and rotator cuff. There are actually many more muscles and ligaments that can cause shoulder pain. We use topical analgesics, soft tissue therapy, mobilization, and adjustments to help a sprain/strain injury recover faster and reduce impingement syndrome. Research supports the fact that chiropractic manipulations help to reduce inflammation and restore normal joint alignment. Our patients are given a stretching and exercise program to strengthen the shoulder quickly and prevent a “frozen shoulder”.
